I just have To tell you guys this

Filed under: Uncategorized — greg @ 10:51 PM

As a joke one time I decided that it would be funny to give my husband a small hickey on his neck. I thought it was hilarious one weekend and the little thing was still there when he went to work on Monday. He called me in the morning hours to let me know that his office staff had noticed the silly thing and that he was now the butt of many jokes around the office. Of course, I still thought that was pretty funny. It wasn’t until his after lunch call that I started to think that this was not such a great idea. He called to inform me that he had been pulled into his boss’s office and spoken to sternly about office policy and proper personal appearance. With that he had told me he had to go as there was a meeting now happening “in his honor” with several heads of the company. Of course I started to sweat and feel just awful that my little joke had gone this far. An hour later he called to let me know that he had been terminated for some sort of indecent behavior at work. I was totally devastated and starting crying. It was then that he whispered sweetly two little words “April Fools”. Who knew it was April first!

More Of My Family Rambles

Our family has taken a vote that the next Olympic sport should indeed be none other than the art of “Stair Sliding”! Over the past year we have been able to truly perfect this art to the point that everyone who is anyone in our area wants to have a sleepover here so that they can “stair slide”! Pictures have hit the internet, on Facebook, on cell phones, and now on video! The teens love to crash at the Steward’s because we teach “Stair Sliding 101”. We have determined that the best way to approach stair sliding is with the slickest sleeping bag possible. Upon entering our home for a sleepover your sleeping bag will be inspected to see if it meets the sliding criteria. The next step is to then sit on your bottom at the top and have someone give you what is called a “mega-push”. This push will allow the person in the sleeping bag to make it down the stairs in about fifteen seconds flat. This time can be accelerated by placing cardboard boxes or a large gymnastics mat on the stairs. Our team is now in training! Is yours?? We love that natural lawn care blogs too.

Our Family Adventures

Our favorite family past time is what we call “going on adventures”. We love to travel to new places and see things that we have never seen before. One favorite trip that comes to mind is the day that we discovered our favorite secret getaway in North Georgia. I had searched internet archives on favorite hidden places to see in North Georgia and came across a place called Dick’s Creek. Now this creek was said to be secluded and it didn’t even have a real address so to speak. Instead it had a location and some random roads listed that were in the area. So, we packed a lunch and went on our way. What we found was a nature lover’s paradise! After touring many dirt roads and actually crossing through a foot of water in our conversion van, we came across our little piece of heaven. (more…)

My Home School Joys

My very favorite thing about teaching my children at home is that I am able to witness their achievements first hand. My oldest went to Kindergarten and most of the first grade. Some of the more basic things in education I am not responsible for having taught her. However, this is not the case when it comes to my other three children. My other three have been taught at home since day one. The amazing thing is that not only can I say that I was there when these boys took their first step, I can also say that I was their to witness the little light bulb go (more…)

Reading And Pooping No kidding

The honest truth is that sometimes I think it is funny when those people who act like their own poop doesn’t stink wind up getting hit with it. I know, it’s a horrible truth, but I am human! Back in my days of cancer fun I came across a smug lady while waiting for a mammogram. Now for those of you who have been deprived the most wonderful experience of getting a mammogram, let me tell you that you get the joy of taking off all of your garments from the waist up. Then you get to put on the world’s smallest half gown, which covers you from the waist up. This lovely little gown has a slit down the front so that your precious little boobies pop right out for the technician to squish in the machine. (more…)

Now Home Teaching The Kids Ain’t Everything Great

My least favorite thing about homeschooling can also go right along with my favorite! I love to be a part of my children’s accomplishments and to see them grow first hand; however, there is something very scary about knowing that there is no one else to blame if your child’s education is not a strong one. I have struggled with this pretty much every day of my homeschooling adventure. We have lost time in schooling due to severe illness and moving many times. It is often hard to make up the time and to stay on track. I worry that my children will forever be behind their peers in academics or that they will be under-educated when rated by state tests.
