My Home School Joys

My very favorite thing about teaching my children at home is that I am able to witness their achievements first hand. My oldest went to Kindergarten and most of the first grade. Some of the more basic things in education I am not responsible for having taught her. However, this is not the case when it comes to my other three children. My other three have been taught at home since day one. The amazing thing is that not only can I say that I was there when these boys took their first step, I can also say that I was their to witness the little light bulb go off when they first learned to read and to write. Oh how I remember how my oldest son was so excited when he finally learned to read. It took him such a long time to accomplish as he has many difficulties in his learning. He started to finally catch on to reading in the later part of first grade. He was so completely proud when Daddy came home one day and he could actually read him a book! My oldest is also the one with the most difficulty in learning his math facts. But again, we were there to see the excitement arise within him when he realized that yes, he could do this! There are many challenging things about homeschooling our children, but I can say that the rewards make it all worth it! I just have to remind myself of that every day!
